Two sets of similar observations, USA 267 (41334)

All -

I tracked 41334 on 22 Feb and have just now submitted the last of 8 observations. Two images had 41334 in them, generating 4 total observations. I submitted four observations with the RA and Dec from Astrometry, World Wide Telescope and four with the RA and Dec from SAO Image DS 9. Cees feels that the SAO Image values will be more usable and I hope to compare the two sources (Astrometry vs SAO Image DS 9).

Here’s how the recent observations compare against the most recent McCants TLE (he may be working with more observations than are currently available to TruSat)

That object should be very stable - it is a great satellite to learn on.

These look like they do NOT include my latest - Julian day 20 053. My techniques should hopefully be improving, most of the observations I have sent in so far don’t look good at all.

The observations that I have submitted look like the latest ones have not been processed but this list has some of them.

Cees had some suggestions - use the values from SAO Image and not World Wide Telescope. And I finally have figured out what time it is here.

Charles

Charles - I believe that list includes your February observation in rows 9-13 (DOY 53) and 18-21 (DOY 58). The are ordered by observation date, not date of receipt - I see you’ve submitted ~10 observations since March 2.

Hmm. Looking at them, I got observations on Feb 22 (Julian 053) and Feb 27 (Julian 058) and did not take observations on Feb 25 (Julian 056) so that was another input error. Grr. Let me look at them carefully.

I should have 8 observations on Feb 22 (Julian 053) - with two (each) with the same time but different RA and Dec.

Mike will also eventually get back to me but I know he does taxes and is busy at this time of year.

Charles

Mike sent me some results about four observations - at least I might be getting consistently bad! I wrote back and hope to get some additional information from him.

What is “visual”?
